Created on the initiative of the Communauté des Acteurs Portuaires de Dakar (CAP DAKAR) and financed by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) via Senegal's Ministry of Vocational Training, the Centre de Formation aux Métiers Portuaires et à la Logistique (CFMPL) began operations in 2011. It is the first and only centre in sub-Saharan Africa capable of providing training based on the Competency-Based Approach, tailored to the needs of professionals in the sector. Its aim is to impart all the knowledge and skills needed in the fields of logistics, transport and handling.
