Company information
The Insurance Department was created by decree no. 91 744 of 29 July 1991. It acts as a relay for the Regional Insurance Control Commission (CRCA) and other CIMA bodies (article 46 of the Treaty). After its creation on 10 July 1992 in Yaoundé, CIMA, which comprises 14 Member States, set itself a number of objectives which could not be achieved without the collaboration of the Member States through the National Insurance Directorates.
The Insurance Division controls and supervises the entire insurance market, including :
- A reinsurance company: Senegalaise de Réassurance
- An Automobile Guarantee Fund (FGA)
- A public passenger transport (PPT) pool
- Twenty-nine (29) insurance companies
- Four twenty-six (86) insurance brokerage companies
- Eight (8) general insurance agents
